Flybus Terms and conditions

These Terms & Conditions govern all bookings and travel services provided by Flybus, operated by Icelandia. By purchasing a ticket or boarding a Flybus vehicle, you agree to the conditions outlined on this page, including policies on cancellations, refunds, passenger responsibilities, luggage, accessibility, and operational changes.

1. General Terms

Flybus provides scheduled and flexible airport transfer services between Keflavík International Airport (KEF), Reykjavík, and designated pickup and drop-off points. Flybus+ offers hotel-area pickup and drop-off services within Reykjavík.

Flybus operates in accordance with Icelandic law and Icelandia’s general Terms & Conditions.

2. Bookings

Tickets may be purchased online at flybus.is, at KEF Airport upon arrival, or at designated ticket desks and kiosks.

Flybus tickets do not require seat reservations; seats are always guaranteed on the next available departure.

Flybus+ (hotel-area transfer) must be booked at least 2 hours prior to departure.

Customers are responsible for providing correct pickup information when booking Flybus+.

3. Ticket Validity & Usage

Flybus (Airport → Reykjavík)

Tickets from KEF Airport are fully flexible and valid for the next available departure, regardless of flight delays.

Passengers may board any Flybus departing shortly after their flight lands.

Ticket validity period: All day (with flexibility for passengers arriving around midnight).

Flybus (Reykjavík → KEF Airport)

Tickets from Reykjavík require passengers to choose a specific departure time.

Passengers are responsible for arriving at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

Flybus Return Tickets

Return tickets are valid for one outbound and one inbound journey.

Unused portions of return tickets are non-refundable.

4. Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellations by Passenger

Standard Icelandia cancellation rules apply:

Cancellations more than 24 hours before departure: fully refundable.

Cancellations within 24 hours: non-refundable.

No-shows are non-refundable.

Changes

Changes to pick-up times, departure times, or Flybus+ services may be made up to 2 hours before departure if availability allows. A request for a change of this nature needs to be done via telephone to ensure the request is received in a timely manner. Please call +3545990000 to request a change to your booking.

Tickets cannot be transferred to other passengers.

5. Luggage Policy

Included Allowance

Each passenger may bring:

Two standard checked bags (up to 23 kg / 50 lbs each)

One small carry-on

Additional or Oversized Luggage

Oversized or special luggage (e.g. skis, surfboards, bikes, instruments):

Liability for Luggage

Flybus does not accept responsibility for:

Minor wear and tear (scratches, dents, broken wheels/handles)

Damage to protruding parts

Fragile items not properly packed

Delayed, lost, or stolen luggage

Passengers are responsible for ensuring their luggage is loaded and unloaded.

6. Accessibility & Special Assistance

Passengers requiring assistance must notify Flybus in advance.

Non-folding wheelchairs need to be booked at least 3 days in advance to ensure the service is available at the time of the guest’s arrival.

Guide dogs and certified service animals are permitted with valid documentation.

Other animals are not permitted on Flybus or Flybus+ services.

7. Flybus+ Pickup and Drop-off

Pickup is offered only at designated hotels and guesthouses within the Reykjavík area.

Pickup usually occurs 30 minutes before the listed Flybus departure time.

If a hotel is in a pedestrian zone or inaccessible area, passengers may need to meet the shuttle at an approved pickup point.

Passengers are responsible for being at the correct pickup location at the correct time. Missing the Flybus+ shuttle is treated as a no-show.

8. Passenger Responsibilities

Passengers agree to:

Arrive on time for departures.

Ensure they board the correct bus.

Follow staff instructions at all times.

Wear seatbelts where provided.

Keep track of their belongings.

Behave respectfully toward staff and other passengers.

Flybus reserves the right to refuse service to passengers who pose a safety risk or violate onboard rules.

9. Operational Changes & Delays

Flybus may alter:

Routes

Schedules

Stops

Vehicle types

…due to weather, road conditions, mechanical issues, or operational requirements.

Flybus will make reasonable efforts to transport passengers on time, but cannot guarantee arrival times and accepts no liability for:

Missed flights

Accommodation costs

Connecting travel

Additional expenses caused by delays

This aligns with Icelandia’s standard liability policy.

10. Safety

Seatbelts must be worn whenever available.

Standing while the vehicle is in motion is prohibited.

Parents/guardians are responsible for children at all times.

Children are required to be seated in the appropriated car seat for their age in accordance with Icelandic law:

Children 1-3 years of age must use an appropriate child's car seats.

Children 4 years and older (over 18 kg) can use the normal seat belts on our buses.

Note that children younger than 1 year old (under 9 kg) are only safe in car seats that require 3-point seat belts, which are not available on our buses. Flybus cannot guarantee the safety of children under the age of 1 and thus they cannot be booked on the Flybus.

Please contact our Customer Service at least 24 hours prior to your arrival if you are planning on travelling with us with a child that needs a car seat so we can make sure that there is one available.

11. Lost & Found

Flybus handles lost property in accordance with Icelandia policy.

Found items are brought back to BSI Bus Terminal and stored for a minimum of 1 week after which they are disposed of. Passports and IDs found on buses are brought to the local police station at Hverfisgata . Passengers must contact Flybus directly to report items lost on board.Flybus is not responsible for lost or stolen belongings.

12. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by Icelandic law.A court case arising from a dispute over these terms shall be brought before the District Court of Reykjavik
